Mothers and Daughters.
Basic parts of a whole,
bundled together
through biology, legality, or fate.
Electrical charges that attract and repel,
each occasionally losing a piece of themselves.
And those emitted particles change
the dynamics,
the energy,
the exchange.
Engaged in a quantum-physics dance,
Mothers and Daughters
embrace, repel
complement, contradict
nurture, antagonize
support, oppose
ADORE.
Electrically charged, this relationship.
Always reconnecting, the fortunate ones.
Radiating LOVE.
Mothers
And
Daughters.
Precious, blessed science.

***Left shoulder to bottom of breastbone, cut deep.***
Right side the same, meeting in the middle.
Carve a Y, sternum to pubic bone.
Deviate to avoid the navel.
Top flap over the face,
Sides to the side.
Saw away
The ribs.
Remove
Sternal
Plate.

Even
If
I
was
thus
Laid open, completely exposed. I would be no more understood than I AM right now.
I am transparent. I feel it, you see it. I think it, you know.
No deception. No lies. No dishonesty.
Is that why, when younger
I sometimes
Felt
Eviscerated?

The line in the sand
Once clear and obvious
Obscured.
It seemed so permanent, so firm.
It seemed right.
But I gave a little,
You gave a little?
Over and over again
Toeing away the line.
Now it’s unclear, obscured
Who, what, was right?
Who gave -or took- too much?
Who too little?
Am I now on your side of the line
Enabling
You to continue
To take more than your fair share?

I’ve got the JOY down in my heart,
Long absent.
Deep and Real and Ready.
It’s the JOY from which springs hope and possibility.
Where dreams become reality.
The JOY that shouts “Yes, We Can!”
From deep within the belly
From the highest mountaintop.
The JOY that dares to dream of opportunity for all
And guarantees a future
Brighter, cleaner, clearer than today.
It is the JOY that nurtures young souls,
Soothes the old
And offers the middle-aged something to work for.
It is the JOY of American dreams and expectations.
Of all that we
Can be
Should be
Hope to be.
It is the JOY of better days.
The JOY of America.
Our America.
My America.
America.
JOY.

It’s strength, my strength
Surprises
Impresses
As it should
Carries me along on this rugged journey
Propels my soul into a realm I otherwise would miss
Big
Bold
Beautiful
Bodacious
BODY o’ mine
It’s a blessing
Purely
Simply
da BOMB!
