Expedition

~ In My Youth

Challenges refined me

Opportunities arose

Without regret, with confidence, I chose

~ Growing More

Learned from my life’s lessons

Not always the first time

But finally embraced that which was mine

~ At Fifty

Never a great beauty

My loss is less than most

Of wit, and wiles and intellect I boast

~ To This Point

I lived my first half boldly

Knew love, heartache and more

And now, with wisdom gained, it’s time to soar

~ Beyond

The days, the years, ahead now

Seem precious and too few

I’ll live big, love, create, enjoy the view.

Letting Go

Cradling you in my arms

~ all six feet of you ~

Is easier than you’d think.

~

You,

This moment,

Are perfect.

~

It will be our last, this exchange,

Until we meet on a different plane.

~

Caught in the heroin snare,

You’ll leave this time, this place, this space.

And so I hold you here, now.

~

Cradling you in my arms

~ all six feet of you ~

Is easier than you’d think.

~

Letting go.

Letting go is hard.
