Love much. Earth has enough of bitter in it.” ~ Ella  Wheeler Wilcox, American Author & Poet

~ ω ~

I’ll take my bitter

In the form of bitter herbs

Soothe me, treat me;

My distress, curb.

Chamomile, arugula, wormwood, mint.

Each a cure,

Sublimely sent.

In a drink, yes, I think

Bitter can be grand.

Salty gin, tonic, lime~

Never bland.

I’ll take my bitter with a little dash of sweet.

Combined with love and honey, a real treat.

Grapefruit, lemon, sour grape, wine.

Divine

But I won’t take your bitter, spewed and splattered all about.

If you so choose to live,

Then you

I’ll live without.

And love from a distance.

    Very clever.

And bitterness, oh bitterness. Some people relish their self-made role as an “outsider” because it justifies all their bitterness and jealousy.

“Some people relish their self-made role as an ‘outsider’ because it justifies all their bitterness and jealousy.” Wise and concise, V. If they only knew that releasing the venom would free them to be happy.

That’s such an interesting angle. I happen to like my beer very bitter. Thanks for the poem, Kim.

Me? Bass Ale… divine! And Dirty Guera, the local brewery’s blond ale. NICE! Of course, truth be told, I AM a red wine kinda gal most of the time. And then there’s White Star champagne… Oh! Is it time for an intervention?

    I’ll live without.

    And love from a distance.

Maybe you could add a final line: with large alimony check, at least from my POV :)
