Certain Acumen

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”

~Matthew 5:5

Journey Out
Mixed Media Encaustic
by Kim Nelson

Journey out
You are stronger than you know
Go forth
The debasers to show

You can break free

Forge ahead
You are ready for the day
Move on
Fear not what they may say

From shackles flee

Travel far
Perspicacity possess
Open up
Diverse people, places bless

‘Tis destiny

  1. i like how uplifting and encouraging your verse is…seeing in other what even they might not be able to….go on, go out…be on your way…you will find blessing…smiles.

  2. I love the optimism and hope in this, Kim. And I’m blown away that you could use the word perspicacity in a poem. Very shrewd. :-)

  3. “You are stronger than you know”…love that. Such an encouraging piece. And in our culture meekness isn’t usually an encouraged trait–love how you brought that verse out as reminder.

  4. very inspirational poem kim.

i have to say, i really like your artwork. these are water color, yes? i looked thru quite a few of them today, and the last time i was here. you have a very eye-pleasing technique, great color and sense of space/relation. again really enjoyed these.

  5. So true. We never know what we are capable of, until we step out of the comfort zone of the known and find ourselves doing it. Gentle, insightful and very uplifting Kim.

    Tis destiny!

Yes, wise words! sometimes one needs to see the light but depression makes one blind. You are a guiding light here, Kim!

  7. The meek deserve blessings, no doubt about it. But the “shall inherit the earth” part I’ve always had the opposite of “certain acumen” toward. I understand it’s about faith; some of us just don’t have it. Now, without faith, to look with kindness on the meek, to get out of the way and allow them space – that takes some doing.

  8. ‘Perspicacity’ is one of my all time favorite words so what a joy to find it enfolded here into your fine poetry, built up like the layers of the encaustic painting which I LOVE, great multi-media. It was wonderful that I could use the zoom to really see, thank you. This is one I will enjoy revisiting!
