Creeds

There lives more faith in honest doubt, believe me, than in half the creeds.
~Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Never
Has the good-of-all
Been achieved by claims of omniscience
Now and ever
Nations will fall
When boasting overall preeminence
Whether
You agree or pall
Recognize more in common than difference
Consider
Acceptance of all
Not deferring, but open, with reverence
Ponder
Armageddon to forestall
Love, honor, accept, no pretense

Leave dogma behind

  1. Kim, you are right on here. We all DO need to find a way to coexist! I like the idea of stressing our commonalities, not our differences!

  2. I agree totally, Kim…stated so well. Since I was young when I first started to find out that there were so many different religions I believed then that it is all really in essence the very same thing, the same God…just different names and technical details…your piece resonates with me. :) Great work and peaceful view!!

  3. Killing in the name of religion … horrific! Yes, we need to co-exist … I can’t imagine it happening.

  4. Recognize more in common than difference

This rings true! If only greed can be forestalled, the world is a better place to live in! Great thoughts, Kim!

  5. This is so very true, Kim. Probably religious intolerance is one of the worst things of which humanity is guilty. To me, it feels as bad as pollution and global warming. Certainly it has caused as many wars as territoriality.
I’m so grateful my parents told us, when we were young, that all religions are equal, and when we were a little older, said we were free to choose the one that suited us best.
