We cannot teach people anything

We can only help them discover it within themselves

~ Gallileo Galilei

I approached the oracle earnestly,

Querying about her truth.

She told it all,  quite candidly,

Shared lessons,  events,  sooth.

~

I listened so attentively,

Determined to understand

The knowledge through experience she’d gained.

What helped her heart expand?

~

Naïve,  I did not realize

Her way I’d not repeat.

Indeed,  I failed to recognize

‘Twould leave me incomplete.

~

Then suddenly,  it was clear to me,

Nothing she could say

Would change the path I had to walk,

Prevent the rare foray.

~

Each leg of my life’s journey

Was specific in its goal

I must seek grace,  humility

Refine my unique soul

~

And merge with God.

“Earth’s crammed with heaven and every common bush, afire with God.”
~ Elizabeth Barrett Browning

~Ω~

Who dares question power found within the natural world?

The flash of light through monsoon skies, cacophony unfurled

The rapid pace of a whitetail race just ahead of the mountain lion

The movement of the earth ‘round sun or the stars in the belt of Orion

~

Who dares doubt that unknown forces unite to create?

A world of wonder, beauty and a world with anger, hate

A realm in which we each have choice to rise and learn, or fail

A universe wherein each One, given time, doth prevail

~

Who dares disbelieve that every being is divine?

That paths, processes chosen, will finally align

With ultimate perfection, achievement spawned by grace

When all will truly understand the meaning of this race

We call human.

“I put my heart and my soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process.”

~ Vincent van Gogh

Short sharp strokes of pigment and sweat

Create the scene before you

Yet

It’s different.

Sparks and electricity

Chemical and energetic eccentricity

Imbue you with vision peculiarly

Unique to your wondrous mind

And time.

Brilliance

Madness

Illness

Sadness

So many possible impetuses

Behind the canvases

Of

Vincent the Sublime

“Tell me, what else should I have done?

Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?

Tell me, what is it you plan to do

with your one wild and precious life?”

~ excerpted from”The Summer Day

by Mary Oliver

I will not falter,

Crater or fail.

I have big plans

I AM not frail.

I shall prevail.

~

I plan

To live big, know my mind, speak my truth

Love beyond limits, be both proper, uncouth

I plan to embrace opportunity, chance

Plan to create family, joy and romance

I plan to live long, or perhaps short

Really ~ who knows?

But regardless

I plan

To embrace,

Knowing

I chose

This

Way

This wild and precious wonder.

No regrets

In the garden I AM reminded

My role is to love

My charge ~ to accept

When I embrace my divinity, I recognize my humanity.

In my humanity, I recognize yours

Francis was right…

Console ~ Understand ~ Love ~ Give ~ Forgive

Then move on

Move up

Toward Light

Lightness

Enlightenment

As it was alway meant

To Be

I AM currently reading The Reluctant Saint  ω The Life of Francis of Assisi by Donald Spoto. It is, indeed, enlightening.

Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred let me bring Your Love. Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord. Where there is doubt true faith in you. Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek so much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love with all my heart…
