Letting Go

Cradling you in my arms

~ all six feet of you ~

Is easier than you’d think.

~

You,

This moment,

Are perfect.

~

It will be our last, this exchange,

Until we meet on a different plane.

~

Caught in the heroin snare,

You’ll leave this time, this place, this space.

And so I hold you here, now.

Cradling you in my arms

Letting go.

Letting go is hard.

Barren

Restless,

She paces

Through

The upstairs rooms.

~

The days,

Her life,

These rooms,

Full.

Empty.

~

White furniture agleam.

Pastel linens, crisp.

Pottery Barn Perfection.

~

Functional?

A façade.

Keepsakes

Purchased long ago

When hope survived,

Ere plans

And babies

Died.

~

Ah …

This pacing

It’s risky business.

Better get back to that full, busy life.

She’s Come Undone

Cougar.

Our contemporary.

An observation.

~

She’ll tackle your daughter.

She’s after your son.

She’s come undone.

In an effort to defy the decay

And disguise the rot,

To feel something she never got,

She pokes, lifts, fills and sucks (!)

Until her face and body are no longer hers

(in so many ways)

And she can play make-believe with a boy

She might have birthed.

Graceful?

Gracious, no!

Wicked Good Woman

Wicked good woman.

She’s arresting, compelling, provocative, ideal.

Embodies grace and balance, unbridled appeal.

On the dance floor.

In the gym.

The yoga mat, the Persian rug, with him.

Rhythmic, kinetic, metaphysic, real.

Intentioned to love, nurture, bless, to heal.

Wicked good, No?

Do you know her?

The Thrill

Dreary?

Simply doesn’t equate.

From first embrace

I knew

This life

Would be a thrill.

With you, adventures are a given,

Delights? Commonplace.

Timid?

Not on your life.

We’re not along for the ride,

We’re designing it.
