Things I learned in my first 50 years…

… Only I define myself.

… We don’t always get what we want or think we deserve… It doesn’t kill us.

… The worst of times lead to the best of times.

… Eventually we experience it all.

… I AM totally worth it all.

… I AM capable of accepting it all.

… I AM free to give it all.

… We know we’ve grown when we release judgment and embrace it all.

… When we embrace we experience Grace.

… Grace is a wonderful thing.

… Love and adoration cure a lot of ills.

… Overlook the irritating. Focus on the elevating.

… Look for the good and praise it.

… It is ALL about relationships.

… Give. Give more. Give again. Give all you’ve got. Totally worth it.

… Oh! The exception? NEVER Give Up!

The Creator?  He is me.

Together we developed

This form

Of divinity.

A spark of life,

The journey’s strife,

Each lesson learned therein,

Uncover beauty unrevealed

Yet nestled in the plan.

I AM divine.

I do create.

You, too, conspire with me.

Essentially

Create Eternity.

And we’re doing a damn good job.

Creator:

• one who creates

To Create:

• To cause to exist; bring into being.
• To give rise to; produce.
• To produce through artistic or imaginative effort. 

Create:

cause, lead to, hatch, occasion, give life to, install, bring about, make, form, produce, invent, develop, coin, design, initiate, generate, formulate, compose, establish, devise, originate, give birth to, spawn, dream up, appoint, make, found,  concoct, set up, beget, invest, bring into being or existence… 

A week in New York City with my daughters and I am rejuvenated.

• Sex and the City 2… In Manhattan… On Opening Day… With My Girls!
• Lunch at Josephina’s
• The Metrolpolitan Museum of Art
• Dinner at Seraphina
• Battery Park during Fleet Week
• Wandering  Canal Street
• Tapas and Sangria with Tommy at Pipa
• Night cap at the newly-opened Penny Farthing
• Brunch at Sarabeth’s
• The Bloomingdale’s Memorial Day Sale
• FAO Schwartz (for the grandson :-) )
• Dylan’s Candy Bar (for the college grad :-) )
• Brunch at Le Paris
• The Guggenheim
• MoMa, aka  Museum of Modern Art
• Dinner at Blue Ribbon Sushi

The best part?

We three.

Together.

…And as I traversed that amazing city with my beautiful daughters, I had to consider Alicia Keys’ words in Jay Z’s song, “Empire State of Mind:”

Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,

These streets will make you feel brand new,

The lights will inspire you,

We made memories to last a lifetime, we three… 

How often do we misunderstand?

How often offend?

I, thick-skinned woman that I am, take no offense in Twitterville. Not ever. I realize the subjectivity of interpretation when body language, facial expressions and even voice intonations are absent. Way too easy to get the meaning wrong, if only subtly. Not everyone, however, seems to realize this.

Recently, I laughed out loud after reading this Tweet: “I wonder if I should tell people about my Negative Prayer List.”

After reining in my imagination and creating scenarios in my mind regarding the prayers sent up from that list, I let my fellow twitterer know that she’d thoroughly entertained me by commenting back, “Negative Prayer List… too damned funny!”

I don’t know if it was my use of the word “damned” or if she simply perceived my comment as irreverent, but Twitter-friend promptly responded with “My Negative Prayer list is NOT for curses. It’s just an official recognition that someone is not on my Prayer List.”

I laughed even harder.

I mean, really, it takes time and energy to keep a list of people you are going to pray for. And then to actually pray for them is an additional commitment. But also to keep a list of people who will not make the first list seems really labor intensive to me.

What is the actual purpose of this list? Does it remind one to think about the folks one doesn’t want to think about?

Does it help perpetuate grudges and such? Keep the negativity flowing? Add to somebody’s angst?

I replied, “So it’s kind of a ‘You’re Not Worthy’ list. Even funnier!“

She unfollowed me.

How much you wanna bet I made the list?

Basic parts of a whole,

bundled together

through biology, legality, or fate.

Electrical charges that attract and repel,

each occasionally losing a piece of themselves.

And those emitted particles change

the dynamics,

the energy,

the exchange.

Engaged in a quantum-physics dance,

Mothers and Daughters

embrace, repel

complement, contradict

nurture, antagonize

support, oppose

ADORE.

Electrically charged, this relationship.

Always reconnecting, the fortunate ones.

Radiating LOVE.

Mothers

And

Daughters.

Precious, blessed science.
