~ July 18, 2011 ~ Small Stone ~
the rain fell
gently this time
no torrents
washing out good soil
the rain fell
gently this time
no destruction
I stood tall
a new season is born
the rain fell
I didn’t
…
..

no destruction
I stood tall

We cannot teach people anything
We can only help them discover it within themselves

I approached the oracle earnestly,
Querying about her truth.
She told it all, quite candidly,
Shared lessons, events, sooth.
~
I listened so attentively,
Determined to understand
The knowledge through experience she’d gained.
What helped her heart expand?
~
Naïve, I did not realize
Her way I’d not repeat.
Indeed, I failed to recognize
‘Twould leave me incomplete.
~
Then suddenly, it was clear to me,
Nothing she could say
Would change the path I had to walk,
Prevent the rare foray.
~
Each leg of my life’s journey
Was specific in its goal
I must seek grace, humility
Refine my unique soul
~
And merge with God.
You think your opinion is vital to existence.
As glorious as it is,
It is not.
~
You imagine your ideas will live on, convey your brilliance.
As creative as they are,
They do not
~
You assume that your choices are right, will settle grievance.
As well-founded as they are,
They will not.
~
It is all experience.
Moments practiced.
Knowledge gained.
It is all for benefit, yours and mine.
And in time
Every One will understand, release, accept,
In time
Every One
Fulfills divine.

I know joy
In the depths of my soul
I know what it means to be happy
Yet despite intention, decision and choice
On occasion
I slip
To blue melancholy
In youth I would fight it
Rebel and push back
Resent the intrusion on plans
Now older, I go
With the unwelcome flow
Intending to grow and expand
Each moment, experience, time to endure
Teaches what I’m meant to learn
The blue melancholy, moving through, getting past
Are lessons I’ve rightfully earned.
I wrote this poem after spending time in the garden. There, no creature envies another’s appearance or attributes. There, beauty abounds in every shape, size, color, form. There, we admire the diversity.
We, especially we women, can learn a lot in the garden. Every living thing is endowed with particular and unique beauty… you, me, she… We simply need to widen our vision, expand, accept, appreciate, relish.

I’m feeling especially divine.
That being said…
In my next life,
Next world,
I’m giving birth to six daughters:
Lily
Poppy
Rose
Iris
Daisy
Margarite
And they will be beautiful,
Each in her own distinct way.
Like their namesakes,
Those girls will lift their faces to the sun,
And bask in the wonder of the world.
They’ll add glamour and color, interest, allure
Wherever they find themselves.
With utmost confidence,
Each will embrace her particular uniqueness,
Not covetous, not envious, of other’s attributes,
Sure in the fact that she has exactly what she needs
To Be
Perfect
Happy
