God

He drags his duffle down Geary, toward Jones
Avoiding eye contact, the suits with cell phones

As he moves, multi-sensory nimbus emanates
It repels, astounds, evokes, penetrates

His presence is constant. Efffect? Nothing bad.
Reminds us that brilliance is lash-width from mad

He mumbles a litany of data divine
Next morning, lies inside a quick-drawn chalk line

It is done.

“One of the hardest lessons we have to learn in this life, and one that many persons never learn,
is to see the divine, the celestial, the pure,
in the common, the near at hand-
to see that heaven lies about us here in this world.”
- John Burroughs

Heaven lies about me
Here ~
Every single day
through flora, fauna, human form
Divinity does say
This world is filled with wonder
Enjoy it.
Laugh. Dance. Play.
Love yourself.
Love others.
Walk with Grace and pray.

God
I’m glad
You always
accompany me
amongst herbs and blooms
beneath branches and boughs
to co-create a garden
abundantly healthy and nourishing
wherein from busy world I can retreat.
This is how I practice divinity.

We cannot teach people anything

We can only help them discover it within themselves

~ Gallileo Galilei

I approached the oracle earnestly,

Querying about her truth.

She told it all,  quite candidly,

Shared lessons,  events,  sooth.

~

I listened so attentively,

Determined to understand

The knowledge through experience she’d gained.

What helped her heart expand?

~

Naïve,  I did not realize

Her way I’d not repeat.

Indeed,  I failed to recognize

‘Twould leave me incomplete.

~

Then suddenly,  it was clear to me,

Nothing she could say

Would change the path I had to walk,

Prevent the rare foray.

~

Each leg of my life’s journey

Was specific in its goal

I must seek grace,  humility

Refine my unique soul

~

And merge with God.
