Fear, The Opposite of Love

Verde An Original Encaustic by Kim Nelson

Verde
An Original Encaustic by Kim Nelson

Fear is the opposite of Love.
In youth
my motivations, fear enchained
prevented my embrace
of goodness, grace.
Thank God
for vision, clear
heart, open
patient one,
that loosened links
allowing
true love in.
And out.
Love.
Flows freely.
Both ways.
So long as fear is locked up, held in chains.
Fear is the opposite of Love.

Poised, prepped, set, toeing line toward win
Perfect forms, specimens
Bodies honed, toned, tight perfection
Ready for the race

Sharp
Gunshot sparks, marks
Start
Mercury, speed imparts

As were Hermes, Atalanta
Flying fleet-feet fanta
Riveted by inner mantra
To compete, mad-fast pace

Precious and Divine

If innocence was stolen
lost
Sage, tenderly, I offer you
If love was denied
extracted at cost
Bay, juniper, ’round you I’ll strew
If touch was not gentle
Caresses not pure
With angelica I’ll draw your bath
If ‘cherish’ is foreign
Adoration unknown
Take my hand
I’ll show you the path
And a mirror
So you
Can see what I see
Be
What you’re intended to be
Precious
Divine
Sanctified

Of Grandma and God

Warm & Bright
Original Watercolor
by Kim Nelson

In Grandma’s lap
I learned all about
Love and light and God and right

In her garden, lessons eternal

The cycles of life
Violence
Strife
Ripeness and rot and renewal

In her kitchen, preservation
Both of food and of myself
As we peeled, pared, processed, bottled, saved

In her tub, of perfection
As she gently washed my hair
Kneeling down
Lifting up
Generous Sage

At her table, gratitude
Even when the fare was meager
Openness
Willingness to see the best

From her life
From her death
I learned of worthiness
Inherent
In All
At His behest

And of Grace
