Weeds

Weeds

Dandelion by Maria Sibylla Merian

A discussion of weeds, taking place in the garden:

It’s a weed. Pluck it
But to me
It’s salad greens
Packed with minerals, nutrition

It’s a weed. Pull it out.
If we’re patient, you’ll see
It’s a wildflower, bright pink, free
from conformation

It’s a weed. Hoe it down.
Now it’s clear
I see
That we see
Life differently

Let Us Blind Fools

A few days ago my friend and mentor,  Sherry , challenged us to write about our inner Wild Women. Reading my fellow poets’ responses taught me more, helped me more, than most other recent endeavors. We are a powerful crew! This poem was borne of those readings, along with gratitude and appreciation for gifts and talents that abound.

When we embrace
uniquenesses
and let our lights shine
bright
the brilliance enlightens
selves, each other
illuminates the way
for souls, younger
and blinds the fools

everybody wins

Evolution of a Wild Woman

learning to let go the fear
was the first long leg
of the journey

love, unconditional, pure
given freely
next required mastery

ceasing judgment, both inner and outer
disregarding false
criticism and flattery

then accepting self just as I AM
required patience,
my own desert wandering

now embracing the gifts that abound
takes me closer
to wild woman blossoming

in this temporal movement toward Light
I’m releasing
expanding, progressing

Wild
