Not one for resolutions

She committed to no change

She lived her life, post January one

As previously arranged

~

Demolish habits long ingrained?

Shun drink? Self prohibition?

Transform image ~ rebellious, bold

Complacency? Contrition?

~

What thrill or fun would that produce?

Experiences deny?

I’m traveling fast and light, she mused

Livin’ hard ’til the day I die

Want the change.
Be inspired by the flame
Where everything shines as it disappears.
The artist, when sketching, loves nothing so much
As the curve of the body as it turns away.
— Rainier Maria Rilke

And now, a rondelet, inspired by Rilke…

Change beckons, “Come!”
Turn, curve, open up, discover
Change beckons, “Come!”
Hone not pieces, parts, but the sum
Heed not carping of another
Stoke your fire, let no-one smother
Change beckons, “Come!”

Soar, eat ether,
see what has never been seen,
depart, be lost,
but climb.
- Edna St. Vincent Millay

Like Vincent, Charles, Oscar, Paul, and Henri
I AM tempted to soar
~ surprising none more than me ~
Via Absinthe

Conservative, risk-aversive, straight-narrow, certainly
I’ve a craving for ether
Yearn to rise up and see
What’s never been

Fear of departure, lest forever lost
I analyze hazards
Consider all costs
Of climbing

And I choose

Vincent van GoghCharles BaudelaireOscar Wilde, Paul Verlaine, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec were all known drinkers of absinthe.
ether ~ a : the rarefied element formerly believed to fill the upper regions of space b : the upper regions of space : heavens.

God spoke,

“Go on, now. Do it. I gifted you. Be brave.”

And as she always had done,

She listened and obeyed.

She left that breaking place,

But then old fears set in.

She thought, “How to begin? Within?”

Alone.

~

“You’re not.”

He spoke again.

~

“Identify your heart’s desire.”

“You’re God. You tell me, sir.”

“You’re god, too; and I trust you.

Choose your path, my dear.”

“I want a shoppe

Mine, bottom to top

Where evil dare not enter in.”

“Good plan,” He said, “Lambkin.”

~

So she and God,

They found a space

She made it perfectly her place.

Called it “The G Spot,” after Him.

He was amused.

Evil ventured not in.

Will I go to hell

For this lust

Wanting you,

Fully,

Body and soul?

Will I be condemned

To perdition

By consuming you

Gluttonously,

Whole?

Will I be denied life eternal

For greedily

Taking

You,

More?

Will I be damned

In this lifetime,

For slothfully

Becoming

Your whore?

Will I be cast

Into oblivion

When my wrath

Spews forth

At your neglect?

Will I lose my place

In God’s heaven

When I envy her

Me,

You reject?

Will I go to jail

Life behind bars?

When passion, pride

Crime,

I‘m suspect?

Will I?

What the hell do you think?
