Pondering the aftermath
Securely
Wrapped in
Familiar blanket, warm and red
The comfy~cozy nature of the thing
Textured, worn and soft
Soothes the soul of apprehension
Balms incision, post release
Pondering the aftermath
Securely
Wrapped in
Familiar blanket, warm and red
The comfy~cozy nature of the thing
Textured, worn and soft
Soothes the soul of apprehension
Balms incision, post release
Hiking through morning desert
Clearly, struggle went down
Did two bucks vie
Or did one die
After encountering local mountain lion?

I glanced at my reflection in the morning mirror…
Black pearl pendant rests
Above the heart
It gently nests
‘Tween clavicles
And aging breasts
Representing family, love

Casting eyes ‘cross garden,
Then looking b’yond I see
The desert, pure and natural
Greeting, inspiring me
I’m grateful
For glittering eyes
Green ones

Today
We put away the holiday
Shiny~bright in protective wrap
Patina’d by memories made
This season and decades back
We’ll rendezvous again
Next December
