Wounded

Poetry is natural medicine, it is like a homeopathic tincture derived from the stuff of life itself–your experience. Poems distill experience into the essentials. Our personal experiences touch the common ground we share with others.”

~ Excerpted from Poetic Medicine: The Healing Art of Poem-Making

Wounded
I write
Heal
Risk
Again
Live
Boldly
Love
Freely
Move
Serenely
In this world
Wounded
I write
To right
What’s wrong

Mastered

Chameleon, I mastered early

Authenticity? Years to attain

Lacking a soul nurtured fondly
Self love came
First

Once  fiercely and tenderly caring for me
Became the norm
I could see

The way
Loving unconditionally

From fear
Finally free

*Written for Poets United, An Authentic Life
(Write a poem about an authentic life, living your passion, following your bliss. Fact or fiction, tell a tale in poetry. Make a deeper truth known. One caveat: Do it in fewer than 13 lines.)

Let Us Blind Fools

A few days ago my friend and mentor,  Sherry , challenged us to write about our inner Wild Women. Reading my fellow poets’ responses taught me more, helped me more, than most other recent endeavors. We are a powerful crew! This poem was borne of those readings, along with gratitude and appreciation for gifts and talents that abound.

When we embrace
uniquenesses
and let our lights shine
bright
the brilliance enlightens
selves, each other
illuminates the way
for souls, younger
and blinds the fools

everybody wins

Across The World

across the world
the result is the same
empower women
civility reclaim

empower
females
of the breed
to eliminate
the need
for the follow-up care
we’re stingy to share
when they break and they bruise and they bleed
and we call it a  domestic matter

across the world
the result is the same
